I tote-ally want to carry tote-only.
It all began when I started bringing my laptop and books to and from university daily. It was always a pain, there was never enough room in my bags, I didn’t want to look too geeky with a rucksack and I need something comfy. So I would use linen tote bags handed out as shopping bags at Fresher’s Fayre from Kids Love Ink, a friendly and talented indie tattoo/piercing parlour in Deptford, they worked a trick. They were comfortable, roomy, large and unassuming – they also last (I still have one from first year now!).
From then on, I’ve begun a little collection which is taking over every wardrobe space I have available. Green Ranger is none too happy 😉 These are a few that I’ve been perusing recently for imminent purchase:
Totes Amazed via Hannah Zakari
Totes Amazed are Rachael Griffiths and Gill McColl, two designers living and working in Edinburgh. They have an amazing selection of totes, featuring some of the best designers and illustrators from across the globe. Each design is unique to Totes Amazed, so you’ll never find a more unique piece.
Love Cycling Tote Bag – £12 – I love the illustration on this bag and it goes with my recently purchased, french-inspired bike t-shirt from Zara. The heart is just the cherry on top of this design. I’ll be putting this in my bike’s basket when the rain finally stops!
Limited Edition Dream A Little Dream Tote Bag available in navy and red – £12 – I’m a sucker for a bag with lyrics on and these are seriously cute. Perfect for summer days in flowery skirts and beautiful ballet pumps.
Almira Bag by Monki – £6
One of Monki’s SS13 prints, this design is simple and elegant, ideal for a date or even a casual day in the office. I also have far too many items with the word ‘Love’ on them… *blush*
LEGO Canvas Tote Bag by Design & That – £11.57 – This is my absolute favourite. Being a massive Lego fan, when I found this I had the BIGGEST smile on my face. Sad, I know, but it is one of the best bags I’ve ever seen. It’s minimalist and soon to be mine 😉 I can’t wait to show it off on my next journey to Legoland, not that I needed an excuse.
Alice Rebecca Potter
A designer and illustrator living and working in London, Alice makes wonderfully, practical designs with a colourful touch.
Cotton Tote Bag, Baking in Red and Green – £10 – This is perfect for when me and Green Ranger go shopping for baking supplies. We are fed up with having a mountain of plastic bags stored under the sink, so this will be a great, green alternative. The icons on the tote say it all – bake addicts.
Which is your favourite? Do you carry a tote bag?
