With drizzle and grey clouds abound, today has definitely been one of those ‘I’m never leaving my duvet’ kind of days. So on a mission to stay as warm as possible, both Joe and I have barely left the flat but have instead opted for planning our next adventure… a little road-trip around New England!
Knowing this may happen today (with a little help from Accuweather), we pre-planned and stocked up on a few tubs of GLORIOUS! soup last night. Now this is where we came upon the thought that there is probably a soup flavour not just for every destination, as per GLORIOUS!’ vast offering but also for every occasion. It just so happened that New England in Autumn was our pick for this afternoon – our ‘duvet day’. With flavours of smooth butternut squash, warm cumin and a slight tang of mango chutney – we were sold. We are also trying to be a little healthier too, so thought we’d opt for a tub from their new SkinnyLicious range, boasting less than 2% fat, and as always, it’d be one of our 5 a day.
Anyway, with our New England in Autumn soup simmering away this afternoon, we started browsing for our next adventure. What was great was as we were flicking through pages of our travel guides, with mountains covered in distinctive red, glowing amber and bright yellows leaves and those charming little white churches, the flat began to smell as though we were already there. It was easy to imagine ourselves in a leafy wonderland, driving through a kaleidoscope of colours and visiting Boston markets full of freshly made delicacies.
The flat was full of one of those warming kind of scents that immediately makes you feel at home, like fresh bread or cinnamon lattes, with a tinge of spice that keeps you wanting more. It’s fair to say, at this point, with rolls buttered and spoons ready, we couldn’t wait to try our soup.
I prefer my soup fresh off the hob, piping hot, meaning I can do that little blow on each spoonful to cool it down. Normally, I sprinkle a few mini croutons on top but for this particular set of flavours, I knew I needn’t have to.
Joe, on the other hand, prefers his cold with a slice or two of buttered bread, and a nice big mug of tea. He’s a strange one but I did try a spoon (or two!) and it does work… he’d normally add a pinch of salt too but found he didn’t need to with on this occasion. Huzzah!
Just as an aside, if you’re a bit like Joey from F.R.I.E.N.D.S., and you don’t feel like sharing your tub, GLORIOUS! soups are excellent for taking to work the next day for a yummy lunch. With non-leaky lids and already in a microwaveable tub, they’re perfect for Monday mornings where you’d rather imagine yourself being anywhere but your desk! In my case, definitely New England in the Fall…
New England in Autumn was a perfect companion to planning our Fall adventure. Each mouthful was packed full with a wholesome squash flavour, including a dash of cumin that makes you feel instantly warm inside – really comforting. As well as the cumin, the curry powder and mango chutney, although only a little bit, made all the tangy difference. I’ve had Butternut Squash soup before at many a cafe but they have always been a lot more disappointing than this serving. The texture was beautiful and thick too, ideal with a roll, but needless to say no more. We were both left with happy, full tummies and extremely content smiles ready to carry on a day of research.
(I also may have had another serving later in the day too whilst reading a few new faves of mine…)
GLORIOUS! are doing things a little bit differently. They source fresh ingredients, unearth authentic recipes and bring us bold flavours from around the world. With their A to Z of Flavours, they seek to bring destinations to life, with soups packed full of flavour and character. You can add to this too, by adding new worldwide ingredients or recipes to their online Flavour Map, I intend on adding a couple from my trip to Thailand.
They’re honest, innovative and definitely went beyond my expectations when I met them at Bloggers Love… Foodie event (their team were amazingly friendly!). GLORIOUS!’ philosophy is simple; be adventurous through food. Because of this they’ve won a number of awards not just for their ingenious offering but also their undoubtable quality.
How do they do it, I hear you ask?… a very talented team of chefs who have worked in top restaurants across the company, perfecting their flavours for years at a time – and it really shows. But if you want to add your own recipe into the mix, you can, with GLORIOUS!’ online Recipe Wall. Who knows, maybe you could show this ingenious team a thing or two!
You can pick your tub up from all major supermarkets, including but not limited to Tesco, ASDA and Sainsbury’s. For a full list, take a look here. Not only are there the regular A to Z of Flavours available to choose from, there’s also the brand new SkinnyLicious offering too… I highly recommend the Thai Tuk-Tuks tub too – definitely not as hair-raising as an actual tuk-tuk ride but always amazing!
Have you tried GLORIOUS! soups before? If so, what do you recommend or what you would like to try?
