I have been trying, recently, to expand my foodie horizons. Having been inspired by a fair few blogs but mainly by my favourite blog (paperbagblog) and with the oncoming of my Pinterest account, I have tried to pick foods that are a little more tasty. Ever have that where you just get bored of food all together and you need a change? Well, it’s like that.
(From left to right) Dorset Cereals Berry Granola Bars – by far the best of the breakfast bars I have tried, it has genuinely sweet tangyness to each bite with just the right amount of oaty goodness, Carman’s Dark Chocolate Granola Bras – these come a close second, if they had yoghurt instead of Dark Chocolate, they’d be amazing, Nakd Banana Bread bars – I’ve also now gone on to try the berry and chocolate ones. They are fairly nommy but are a tad dry…
My home made Rock Cakes and Hot Chocolate in my favourite Twinings Mug with Sweater
Ahh, the wonderment that was the Graze box, I got offered a free box from WHSmiths and had to try, it had been the millionth time I’d been offered one. So I set it up with the intention to cancel after my free box. I only did it to see what they were like and what they had to offer. Although, afterwards, I think I may order more. It came in a delightfully packaged box, economical and good for the environment, each section had its own groove in the box. It had a nutritional summary for me and a welcome leaflet. At this point, I was excited, then I saw what I actually had! Tropical Daiquiri – all the dried fruit that would be in a Daiquiri; Hot Cross Yum – bits of sponge, cinnamon raisins and mixed fruit; Apple and Cranberry Flapjacks – as described but the best of the lot! and Macaroons – everything that constitutes a Macaroon but in smaller pieces with more coconut. I would implore anyone to try this out, especially with some Greek Yoghurt. Well worth the £3 a box with free delivery. Oh yeah! I got to name my flat Stark Industries too… *cough*
Me and Green Ranger had a day off together (wow), since we both do awkward hours at the moment, we lazed in the park. I had a day off of caring about my intolerances and he just joined me in a Marks and Spencer Choco Milkshake and a Peach/Custard Tart. It was an absolute treat.
My invented breakfast (because we were running out of both types of cereal) – Raisin Wheatabix and Frosties! It was the nice and naughty treat of the day with added dried fruit, cause that was left over too!
Funnily enough, I was in Brighton (again!), I went to a different cafe this time that I have always been curious about – I wish I could remember the name. I went in and realised the place and the people who own it were French – they were so friendly and welcoming. All of their cakes had glitter on them and the cutlery holders were made out of Lego – a win immediately. Below was the silky smooth mocha and Homemade Brownie… it could rival Marwells…
For dinner, Green Ranger made his lunchtime special. The chicken/pepper/onion/lettuce and mayo grilled baguette. Every time it is stunning, just as good as the ones he made in Barbados. My favourite lunch.
Lucinda, the Waitrose lovely that she is, brought me back a surprise snack on her lunch break this week – Salted Caramel Popcorn – created by Heston. They were addictive, I nearly ate a whole bag (oops) and would definitely by them again! Just when you think you’ve had enough of the sweet, the saltiness hits you. Each one makes you crave the next.
My regular Starbucks order, Mocha Light Frappe. Hell to the yes. Deliciously cool and rammed with coffee. Big nom.
My first 99 flake!! It was a friday treat, I promised myself the next time I see an ice cream man and I actually have change that I’d buy one. So, here it is with two flakes which I bartered for and Bubble gum sauce!
