Gosh, this seems like ages ago now, the above piccie is one from my mum’s birthday – this was in February- see how far behind I am! My dad was at a bit of a loss as to what we could do for her birthday, she isn’t the most broad-minded and is very particular as to what she will do. So I suggested a tea party theme, she didn’t have to go out and we could decorate the house. This was just the table.
I figured I’d use some playing cards and put them around the house, doileys because I hadn’t used them before but they looked so quaint that I couldn’t resist, mismatching napkins so nothing was the same and random bits of pick and mix scattered about from the lovely Old Simmes Sweet Shop in Crawley. I love it, they do the most old fashioned sweets and now even American imports that I have adored so far, takes me back to my holiday in 2004 to Florida.
My favourite pieces, and you’ll be glad to know I kept them… were the tea cups and saucers. I got them each randomly from charity shops at 5p each roughly, each ones are different and individual. I love them. I got this from a friend who did this for her wedding, she collected hundreds of pieces! I thought I needed to give it a go… then I just added bubble wands to each cup as a stirrer and decorated the teapot I own with a top hat and pick and mix too.
I’m proud to say my mum loved it and had a great birthday but it did get my dinner party juices flowing too. Once I procure a flat with Green Ranger, I will be hosting them as much as my wallet can afford 😀
