Tonight, this is gonna be a long one. It’s been a while since I’ve written a blog that was solely about just how my life has been going. Now I have the time to sit down before New Girl starts again with a Sponge in the oven and write just what has been going on in my world.
The first thing to mention is that I have changed jobs, due to being ill and having ahead problem. Not an emotional one, a physical one, I can’t really be in a stressful environment that will only add to the pain I am caused every day. So today I resigned at Caffe Nero – a place I have on-off worked at for over three years now. I do miss it – I miss the teams I have worked with more than anything and the regulars in Oxted. They always used to make me smile and each one of us would know each other’s daily goings-on. I miss Adam, the guy who I got to know at Crawley who is genuinely one of the nicest people I have ever met and I miss gossiping with one of my favourite girlmates about some branches.
I have joined a new company, one which deals with ethical outdoor furniture, it doesn’t sound like much but it is a web design and marketing role. I finally get the chance to be creative and show some of my ‘talents’ in a role I can be trained in and get used to. It’s going well so far and I am designing one website and set up their company blog today on good old WordPress. Love it already. The best thing about my new job though is my new workmate, Lucinda. She is epically funny – we can gossip about clothes, things to do, relationships, books, films and work. She makes the days go quicker and is always there if I have an issue. I can’t wait to spend more time e-mailing her.
But before all this happened, obviously I moved out with Green Ranger and it’s all going well. We got our new sofa and it is BRIGHT GREEN but I absolutely adore it. It’s so comfy! But before all that! We had our Flatwarming and it was messy. My bessy mate, Carn, drank dark rum named the Kraken and it was definetly just that, it became the punishment drink in Ring of Fire, which everyone knows is always a bad idea. Our bathroom got written all over in washable crayons and then there was drunken Band Hero. It was absolutely the best way to start living in the flat properly. It had been christened.
Sometime after that me, Green Ranger, Carn and Ian went to Shoreditch. I’ve wanted to go for a while now to see the vintage shops, eat some cupcakes and have a general wander around one of the most artsy and creative places I know. We took the train up and hit Nandos, however, this was the best I had ever been to, it’s nice to go somewhere with friendly and happy staff for a change. Then we wandered around the multiple Vintage markets and tea rooms for refreshments – I bought some Gingerbread Handmade earrings from a Central Saint Martins Student and got everyone a delicious whoopie pie. Ian got his mum some Purple Dr Martens for £30 and they looked brand new, so unfair! Although, I bought some on eBay for the same price in Navy Blue a few days later… they are waiting at my parents for me to pick them up or when they come round saturday. I am massively excited for them, I’ve always wanted Dr Martens! We had a wander and I marvelled at street art as usual till we couldn’t walk anymore.
Oh yeah, so my parents are coming over for dinner for the first time Saturday, I am gonna ask Green Ranger to make one of his mean roasts and when I mean mean, I mean mean. They are the best roasts I have ever had! I will have to take a few photos on saturday and post them up sunday just to show you! They are mouthwateringly fabulous; really rich with flavour and just the perfect kind of comfort food.
Talking of food… I’ve become obsessed with baking things. Last week, Green Ranger had a second attempt at a Lemon Drizzle Cake, the first one was a tad heavy… but this one was nommy and fresh and lasted an age! Then I started Baking Fridays at work where we all take turns to bring in a cake that we’ve made. Lucinda began with a Chocolate frosted Chocolate cake then I made a Banana and Walnut loaf with Chocolate drops at the office request. Somehow, it turned into a Bread and Butter pudding… but it still all went, I was amazed :/with my office is ridiculously nice or it was actually alright… I should have taken a picture of the car crash that it was 😛 Just come out of the oven now, is a Victoria Sponge with Fruit in it. I plan to put icing and jam in it and make it look wonderful.
Lastly, tomorrow is mine and Green Ranger’s 1 year anniversary and I am so ridiculously psyched for it. This weekend we spent in Manchester to celebrate though it kinda ended badly when he realised he’d done nothing really for it and that he doesn’t do romantic things. For me, I was glad he noticed because it was just a little bit sad for me, yet again, to be doing all of the things that I wish someone would do for me. I rented out a one bedroom apartment in Salford Quays last minute and it was beautiful and modern. The views were wonderful, you could see the city clearly and we had our own balcony!
Before that, we spent the morning having a Frankie and Benny’s brekkie. I had Pancakes, berries and Ice Cream with a Chocolate Chip Milkshake and he had The Works (Full English) with juice. Then we had a walk around Salford Quays. We took the rather exciting tram ride into the main city to our usual haunts – Afflecks, Forbidden Planet, North Tea Power and the cafe just inside Pop Boutique. It was lovely just to relax and have a wander about looking at vintage again, graphic novels and records/DVDs. Then we took a drive to The Trafford Centre, it’s nice and anything but to ‘regular’ mall to me apart from the obvious Renaissance inside. I did get a Starbucks Mocha Light though so all was not lost 😉 My favourite kind of day minus the blogging… Later that night we went to Chiquitos for dinner and began on Cocktails. We had the best Strawberry Daquiris, Something named Mia in Frankie and Bennys, then a customary Smirnoff Ice. Damn, we are classy 😛 It was a nice night. Just waiting to see what we have planned tomorrow, if anything…
P.s I started reading 50 Shades of Grey… see, I can be girly.
