Since January, I have been training with Croydon Roller Derby, as you guys know. I am near my Basic Skills Test now and it is such a relief and a massive ‘pat on the back’ for me. Over the past few months, I have worked my arse off to get where I am.
I have been learning so much and skating when I can to get my game up to join the regular team in their training sessions – nothing is more thrilling or scary. I have learnt:
I finally have started to feel like a derby girl, I even have a few names to contend with for when I pass my test. I also promised myself some Riedells as a congrats to me, sounds big-headed but I never thought that I would have progressed so far in a sport. Truth be told, I am addicted. I cannot wait to skate or train every week, I cannot wait to scrimmage and I keep getting burning desires to get tattoos and new piercings and dye my hair amazing colours again. It’s changed my life in so many ways and it’s made me insanely happy. To be part of a team like CRD, is one of the best things to ever happen to me and I wouldn’t give it up for the world.
Also, I am going to see London Roller Girls bout on 28th April at Earls Court, my first LRG bout and I am so excited! Tickets bought today for me and Green Ranger. Off we go!
Of course, if you want to find out exactly what I am talking about, the next intake is in May. E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for more information!
