it’s the 1st of december and didn’t it come around quick! has everyone got their decorations up, started buying their christmas gifts and cracked out that dodgy christmas album that always seems to find its way to the stereo at this time of year? has everyone got THAT party outfit at the ready and started buying mince pies and brussel sprouts by the trolley load?
more importantly, have you been naughty or nice?
as has always been the case in my family, i am now being badgered for a christmas list. i thought that would perhaps die off after moving out and turning 23 this year – but apparently not… does anyone else still write christmas lists? GR doesn’t – it’s ‘rude to be so expectant’, i see his point but i never invented the tradition…
anyway, these are a couple of things that will be featuring on my list come the weekend:
Caitlin Moran – How to be a Woman; she has quickly become one of my favourite comedians. her quick with and hilarity ensue in this ‘guide’
Jon Ronson – The Psychopath Test; this guy did a talk at my uni and had me in stitches throughout. he has an unhealthy obsession with the insane but then again so do i.
Stephen Chbosky – The Perks of Being a Wallflower; i read this a while back and it stuck with me, i loaned it from a library so im keen to re-read it and own it.
The Lumineers – Self Titled; i’m really addicted to their single ‘hey ho’ and have given the album ago to much delight
Of Monsters and Men – Little Talks; i heard their hit single on the radio and they happened to be at Reading 2012 when i was there, they were really atmospheric live and really got the crowd going. the small tent was packed out for them.
Coldplay – Mylo Xyloto; my old favourite band. unfortunately, i couldn’t get used to their new sound for a while, it was so different from their first three albums that i shunned them. now, i regret it and love this album a fair bit.
The Dark Knight Rises; i crashed my car into a pillar after this film, legend says it was because it was easily one of the best films i’ve ever had the pleasure of watching
Moonrise Kingdom; quirky and wonderful – don’t listen to what anyone says – THE feel good film of 2012.
Jewellery – Tatty Devine (shocking) Name necklace or Enamel Gingerbread Heart Necklace; simply because i love this brand and their perspex. i’m beginning to drown in their jewellery. i love the gingerbread necklace because it reminds me of my aunt in germany, they have actual gingerbread hearts at every christmas market i’ve ever been to in Weiterstadt.
