Last week, it was one of my closest friend’s birthday and I was at a loss for the first time since I’ve known her as to what to get her as a present. So, as you do, I scoured all the usual websites, all the sites she may look at and craft sites, like Pinterest, and I came across this idea.
A Personalised Chocolate Chip Ingredient Jar
First off, everyone loves a chocolate chip cookie, unless you are lactose intolerant, like myself – in which case, there are alternative ingredients. So, why not give your loved one a jar with all of the ingredients they’d need to make a batch of cookies and design the jar with instructions on the side, plus a message of your choice. All they have to do is add the eggs, butter and milk.
If you want, you can always buy these ingredients too and offer to make the cookies with your friend as part of their present – quality time with them. It may seem like a cheap idea but it is far from it. In a world of social networks where we all communicate via screens and all have hectic schedules to keep up with, why not go back to basics and make up some cookies with your bestie over a cup of tea (maybe something stronger) and a chat?
If I’ve won you over, here’s what you’ll need to make between 12-15 chocolate chip cookies:
350g unsifted flour, 1tsp bicarbonate of soda, 1 tsp salt, 175g caster sugar, 175g soft brown sugar, 350g chocolate drops, 1L or 1.8L large glass jar depending on the shape, a beautiful ribbon for decoration and a Glass Pen to write on your instructions and message.
If you don’t fancy chocolate chips, then substitute the chocolate drops for the ingredients of your choice e.g. raisins, oats, nuts
