It’s been a little while since I gave you a little update on how things are going with me, so I thought I’d do some sharing… since new year events have certainly been interesting!
My Awkward Foot
Since I was born, I’ve always had a bit of an abnormality. The outside of both of my feet had bunions, this means that the bones on the outside are shaped like bananas! Whilst this sounds funny, they have actually caused me a lot of pain during my life and have meant I can’t always wear the amazing shoes I’d love to. On 2 Jan, that changed. I had my right foot broken and put straight. This did mean 5 weeks of resting and doing nothing, apart from working from home (do you see why there hasn’t been an update ;)). It’s all fixed now but the muscle needs to grow back and i’m still banned from derby and yoga for another four weeks. I’ll get there, just have to learn how to walk first!
Green Ranger’s Birthday
On the 5 Jan, it was Green Ranger’s birthday. We couldn’t do much because I was still drugged up and unable to walk but we did have a lovely tea party with a few of our friends. He even got two cakes including this one made by our friend, Aneta. He isn’t a fan of Top Gun but he liked it all the same, especially seeing as it had Lego on it! I bought us tickets to see the NFL Miami Dolphins vs. Oakland Raiders at Wembley Stadium later this year, he was happy enough. It’s nice to have something we can both do and enjoy together 🙂
Trying Exciting New Recipes
These couple of past months have provided plenty opportunity to try out delicious new recipes including Strawberry American Pancakes, Falafel Balls with Hummous, Chicken Pies, Homemade Pizza and Blood Orange Sponge. I can tell you, quite firmly, that each one has turned out marvellously and I can’t wait to share the recipes with you. Me and Green Ranger have plenty of bake days on the horizon, so I’ll be sure to update you.
My First Day Out
The day after I got my cast off, Green Ranger drove me straight down to Brighton. Taking it super easy, we had a lovely lunch in Nest in the North Laines and picked up a few treats for us, including some new bass guitar strings. We also got a New York print for our bedroom, some fresh veg and a cinnamon roll and hot cross bun from Infinity Foods and some colourful material for me. Green Ranger’s mum got me a sewing machine for Christmas and I’m planning on making my first pieces in the coming weeks. Two dresses using the materials featured – I can’t wait. It was so nice to spend a day outside and with GR. It’s been quite isolating staying inside for so long.
Plans For The Future
As a way of detracting myself from my recovery, I booked a lot of fun things to do this year to perk myself up. I’ve booked tickets for Five Finger Death Punch and Goldfinger/Zebrahead at the Manchester Academy, NFL tickets and a city break to Nice, France. So excited to get out and about in the coming months and tell you all about them!
What have you been doing since new year? Are you enjoying 2014 so far?
