With the Easter bank holiday weekend just around the corner, I’ve been frantically looking around for non-chocolate gifts for a couple of close friends, my goddaughter and my mum – they plain just don’t like chocolate. This year has been fairly easy though, there’s a great collection of quirky and cute gifts on the high street and online to cater for those of you without those pesky sugar cravings.
So, incase anyone was struggling, I’ve put together my top 6 picks from a small selection of places:
I know I mention them a fair bit but Sour Cherry really do create jewellery for just about any occasion! Modestly priced at just £8 (excluding postage) and a great quality, I’m already excited that this adorable Rabbit Necklace and matching earrings have been made. I’d team this necklace with a simple tee, skinny jeans and a pair of converse for a cute, fun with the family, kind of afternoon – I’ll be wearing mine on a visit to see my beautiful goddaughter on Easter Sunday but more importantly, I’ll be picking up this set for one of my friends.
I know I can always rely on Lush for that perfect last-minute present for just about anyone and I’ve been lusting after this collection for a couple of weeks. Here are my top picks:
I’ve fallen in love with this Charlie and the Chocolate Factory inspired glistening Gold Egg Bath Bomb at just £3.50 each. With a bath melt on the outside, when its dropped into the bath it sinks then bobs back up and does its usual fizzing. Not only do will my friend look forward to bathing in glitter but she’ll smell of honey-toffee too!
A little bit more pricey at £19.95, I’m going to buy my mum this super Funny Bunny. Having already had a bumble bee bought for me by Green Ranger last year, all wrapped up in a scarf, I’m addicted to buying more bath goods in knot-wraps. This organic limited edition Easter bunny is created using a scarf made in Mysore, India, with the money going towards helping the women there to train and find employment; another great aspect of Lush’s eco-friendly ethics. I think I’ll hide a bath bomb inside my mum’s with a little hand-written letter.
If you want to treat yourself this weekend too, as I know I will be, I fully recommend swishing a Bunch of Carrots around your bath and enjoying the soft bubbles and tropical fragrances (buchu, lemon and grapefruit oils) as you relax after your 4-day week. Each carrot is re-useable and at £5.95 for three – it’s not going to break the bank.
Not On The High Street
If, like me, you’re visiting little people, then these may be just what you are looking for – I know when I found these, I felt a smug smile spread across my face. This set of six Easter Bunny Crayons is cheap (£5.50), cheerful and very colourful – they definitely caught my attention. With red, yellow, orange, blue, green, and black, that’s more than enough colours for my goddaughter to make her own rainbow or to fill a hand-made colouring book.
When I was a kid, I couldn’t stop reading Beatrix Potter. Peter Rabbit was always my favourite character, so when I came across this Peter Rabbit Mug at just £12.50, I couldn’t stop myself. It even has the original text and illustration from the children’s books I know and love, the iconic picture of Peter stealing the radishes from Mr McGregor’s garden. It even comes in its own gift box, so I won’t have to wrap it (especially if I decide to keep it!)
What has been your favourite Easter gift you’ve received? Do you have exciting plans for the bank holiday weekend?
